RIEDNER Racing

Published July 26, 2018

Travel east on Hwy 19 from US-12 in Wisconsin and you'll arrive in Waunakee. A sign at the edge of the village declares it’s the only Waunakee in the world. This village, just north of Madison, is where a family of short track racers have made their home. Scott 'Chico' Riedner is patriarch of the family and a 30-year veteran of Wisconsin racing. He’s earned numerous victories, won more than 10 championships and helped many fellow racers. Scott's son Brandon 'Bud' Riedner has driven both dirt and asphalt cars including; Four Cylinders, Sportsman, Street Stocks and Sport Mods. He's earned 60 feature wins, four championships and currently competes alongside his father in a Hobby Stock at Jefferson Speedway. Scott and Brandon will soon welcome the third-generation of racing Riedners to the track when Brandon's son Easton begins driving a Bandolero. Seven-year-old Easton has raced dirt oval Go Karts and Mini Sprints and is eager to go fast on asphalt.

For Brandon Riedner and his family, everything just makes sense at the track. On weekends, they don't go to weddings, they don't go to birthday parties, they don't go camping, they just go racing. Brandon was in third grade when he realized not every family had a race car, he thought it was something everybody's dad had. In high school, he didn't do extracurricular activities, skipped prom and even his graduation in order to compete at the track. Brandon was inspired by a family friend who would hand-letter Scott’s cars and has grown into a lettering artist. Over the years, Scott and Brandon have built their own cars and are committed to racing within their means. The family's hard work, passion and dedication has earned the respect and admiration of their fellow competitors and makes the only Waunakee in the world, the home of winners.

Brandon ‘Bud’ Riedner - #4D DRIVER / OWNER

Favorite Short Track: Rockford Speedway - Loves Park, Illinois

Racing is more than a hobby, it’s a way of life for Brandon Riedner. He doesn’t complain about work, he’ll do any job so long as he can go racing on the weekend. He believes - to be the best, you have to beat the best. The best, in his eyes, is his father and fellow Hobby Stock racer Scott Riedner. Scott is the one competitor Brandon wants to beat the most. He’s watched his father build successful race cars over the years and in 2017, built his first. Brandon feels that race cars should be built, not bought. He would rather spend every ounce of his talent making something special and take pride in it, than just buy it. It's that philosophy mixed with his approach of racing within his means that has proven to be a recipe for success.

Colton Wright - #4D MECHANIC

Favorite Short Track: Madison Int'l Speedway - Oregon, Wisconsin

For as long as he can remember, Colton Wright has spent Friday nights at Madison Int'l Speedway. It's there that he was able to meet racing legend Dick Trickle and grow his love for Late Models. Colton's passion to race has been nourished through Go Kart racing. When he's in a kart, nothing else matters. That sense of focus and concentration is his favorite part of race day. With a belief that hard work pays off, the 18-year-old from Waterloo, Wisconsin hopes to wheel a Late Model one day.
