Ed Anschutz - TEAM 71

November 12, 2020

Life is a journey. You live, you learn and you grow. For racer Ed Anschutz, life has been a storied journey. A journey through dark days and physical limitations. All offset with tremendous mentors, a selfless companion and an army of friends and family. The drive and determination Eddie "The Eagle" Anschutz has to succeed as a racer is equaled only by his drive to be a father to his daughter Brylee and companion to his fiancé Carrie.

Ed was born with Arthrogryposis, a disorder that limits his joint movement and muscle growth. He's learned to adapt and has never let his physical imitations limit his life. Ed credits his disability as the reason he is able to tune a race car. The car is an extension of himself and needs to perform in a way that compliments his physical limitations. A fine-tuned race car is Ed's pride and his focus. He believes he's an OK driver, but his car is twice as good.

Ed is a genuine racer, an authentic enthusiast. He runs a Unified Street Stock, simple in appearance but as well prepared as any high-dollar racing machine. Built from a retired street car and parts accumulated from over 20 years of racing, Ed prides himself on building his race car from the ground up.

The multi-time track and state Champion has earned over 60 feature wins and is a regular competitor at several dirt ovals in Northeastern Wisconsin. He's been the announcer at Outagamie Speedway for several years, narrating the racing action. With his finance Carrie, Ed has provided foster care to more than 27 dogs.

If the journey of life is a race, Ed Anschutz is winning. And those victories aren't always classified by a number or a statistic. A win can be the moment your heart and soul soar above that which tries to hold you down. When you achieve your best because those around you gave you wings to fly.
